I know shoestringastronomy is the prefered usb cable, but are there any other brands/models that work?

Thanks,

Charlie

It depends on the camera model you have, you did not say.

The cables requirement (USB and/or SERIAL) are listed in the camera support grid, see link in the page footer and look for your camera model.

Hello Admin,

Yes, i have read it but it only lists shoestringAstronomy as a source... question is is there another source? Do I need to buy shoestring's special USB device for your software to work or can I buy something else? I have ordered their device but I can not get a responce from them about shipping.

As per camera grid, you DO NOT need a serial cable for the D810.

You need to look at the specific line for the D810a.  It only states USB on the D810a line so all you need is the camera supplied USB cable.
