I moved your post in the BackyardEOS since this is related to BYE.  Tell us more about your camera setting,

Do you have the camera dial set to M?

Do you get an error message? If yes please provide the exact error message.

Does live view works?

Regards,

I tried to duplicate what you are seeing with BYE 3.1.18 and my T5i. BYE's Planetary mode worked well for me to create an AVI file at 5X. The Save To setting was AVI+JPG and the AVI file was created in the Planetary subfolder of the BYE Download folder. Also in that folder was the subfolder with the individual JPG images.

Be sure that you camera is NOT in Movie mode.
