Thanks for the swift reply but I was forwarding what the program told me .... Using either didn't work. I bought the camera second hand so I don't know how old it is. I bought the BYE this morning. 3.1.17 classic. The 70D does use a Canon data cable and not the USB1 on the 30D. This might help date the camera

With the 30D you would need to use the Canon210 drivers (SDK) in addition to requiring a 32-bit version of Windows and a low-level driver for the camera.

The 70D is 2 generations newer and would use the Canon drivers (SDK) and will work on a 64-bit version of Windows with the built-in low-level driver.

Also, with the 70D a WiFi connection to BYE is not supported. You need to disable WiFi in the camera and connect with USB.

Choose Canon!

BUT... there is no such camera as a Canon D60, but there is a Nikon D60?  Can you confirm your camera is a Canon 60D?  Back to back typos make it almost impossible to help :(

Don't make me question your expertise. This is from ebay. I'm waiting for a photo of my connected camera to come through the ether but it looks the same.....

OK OK OK I've just seen my second cock up - but it's late. Sorry

Okay, Canon 60D... got it!

Choose CANON option in BYE when connecting, not Canon210.

If this does not work please confirm Windows sees the camera in device manager.

If Windows does see the camera, and it still does not connect, do a factory reset on the camera.

I have a 60D myself for testing and it does connect.

Keep us posted,

Keep us posted,

The lap top bleeps when I connect it but device manager identifies a Canon digital camera but says there is no driver.

Your still very patient...

Well, it may not be related to your issue, but according to the Canon web site, the EOS 60D does have WiFi. If so, it needs to be disabled. See the copied and pasted info below:

Eye-Fi connected functions

For photographers who want to transfer content wirelessly, the EOS 60D includes Eye-Fi connected functions. The EOS 60D features a dedicated Eye-Fi section in the User Interface that allows WiFi functionality to be turned off when not required, thus saving battery life.

Also, if I am reading the Canon web site correctly, the driver for your camera should be part of Windows. You may be able to install it either from the CD that came with your camera or by asking the Windows Device Manager to look for it online.

OK. I got no disk with the second hand D60, but I reckon I can get one, and this D60 has no wifi / eye-fi controls or entries in the menu.

I'll blag a drive and try again.

Thanks

60D, lol :)
