Imaging capture error

jonnymac

Question

Hi,

When I click on capture I get the following error:

ERROR - ERROR EDS_ERR_INTERNAL_ERROR : EDSDK.EdsSendCommand(CameraRef, 2, 0)

I am on the latest firmware for my 1000D and I am using a 15" usb cable.

I get the same error with BYEOS v3.0.3 and v3.1.0

I have attached the log file

Hoping you can resolve.

Regards

John

Hi John,

This is a camera issue IMO.  The camera is failing to start the BULB sequence.

Are you the camera dial is set to M?

Is your auto focus on... leading to the camera not being able to focus therefor not being able to start the BULB sequence?

Can you take TV images?

Hi Guylain,

Thanks for the quick response, in answer to your questions:

The camera dial is set to M

I'm confused, when no lens is attached and the camera is used at prime focus how can autofocus be enabled ?, is this not detected when a lens is attached ?

However I have attached a lens and set it to MF on the lens, MF is displayed on the camera LCD however I get the same error.

Yes I can take Time Value images on the camera.

Oh dear, I hope you have something else for me to try :-)

Regards

John

Don't be confused, I had no way of knowing you had no lens attached :)

Do you have in-camera mirror lock enabled?

Unfortunately I don't have a serial cable to test this function

John

You don't need a serial cable for the 1000D.

Please confirm that your in-camera mirror lock function is NOT enabled; that could be it.

Guylain

Hi Guylain, can you tell me how to check this please ? Regards John

Access you camera menu using the camera buttons.  Look for Custom Settings, somewhere in there you have an option for mirror lock, make it is disabled.

I checked this but option is already disabled. I can image up to 30 seconds but still getting the error with bulb.

Can you try with EOS Utility.  This will confirm if this is a BYE issue or camera issue.

Keep me posted,

Well all working and I have no idea why, honest.

I installed byeos on another pc and it worked ok.

When I tried it on the original laptop it worked.

Sorry for wasting your time but thanks for all your help.

Regards

John

Hi,

although this thread is already a year old, I experience the same problem with my 1000D and BYE3.1.4 trial.

I noticed however that setting the camera to bulb manually I was able to do bulb exposures without any problem. When I choose to do a TV exposure it will work but the camera fails to switch back to bulb once a time-value is selected by BYE. I had to switch the camera to bulb manually again and it resumed working as expected.

I hope this helps.

Greetings ... Lars
