BYE and Astrotortilla

Fernando

Question

Dear all, in my last session I tried, four the first time, to connect AT and BYEOS.

Was not possible. I was able to manage anyway and took the pictures I was planning.

Is it a simulator out there for trying to connect AT and BYEOS at home? If the asnwer is no, just stop here.

I opened BYEOS in preview mode. Captured the image form the previous night to BYEOS.  In settings, enable TCP Server

is checked, Port Number: 1499 and Include in Title checked. Opened AT. ASked for Solver and got a message it connecte to BKYEOS.

BYEOS started to "taking picture" and in AT there was a message "Exposing, Waiting for camera". And that is it. It stayed forever...

Thanks in advance, Fernando

Yes, and no...

You can connect your camera with BYE and use AT to ask BYE to take a picture, but if the picture is not of a star field, then AT will not be able to solve it. However, you should still be able to see that BYE takes the picture for AT. Also, if you have a short JPG exposure, say 5-7 seconds, of a star field, you can use the File Open camera to select that picture for AT to solve. In order to use AT this way, you do not need to connect AT to a telescope.

So at home, you can test that AT can communicate with BYE and you can test that AT can solve an image that was shot by BYE, even though it was from a previous session.

Did you follow these instructions?

What version of BYE are you using?  Premium?

Are you sure your port assignment is accurate and are you sure your firewall has not blocked the port?

Thanks Guylon. I followed the intructions. Watched carefully your videos, for example, the one from Astroimaging Channel. I am using 3.1.16 Premiun.

During the "indoor testing" yesterday BYEOS communicated with AT.

WIll check in the "real world" when the clouds are gone...

Thanks!!! I will try today, following your instructions. Yesterday, during my "simulation", BYEOS and AT "talked" to each other. Will try the image test.

Hi Fernando,

This is good.  This is probably due to the firewall not being open at the time it did not work.  You should be fine now.
