Was reading another support post stating that BYN Trial was to be used at home on the camera to test and evaluate the functions, not to be taken to the field. I completely understand that, but was hoping to get it out to our dark site and try and put it all together with the camera, BYN, and PHD2. This would have been my first attempt at deep sky. Just a little disappointed, but no big deal. Looks like it does all that it's supposed to do and I'll want to buy. Since I was able to browse while connected to our clubs dark site wi-fi, I'm wondering if the first network BYN recognized on initial install would be the ONLY network BYN Trail will work on. That would explain the issue. Another explanation would be that our wi-fi guy at the dark site has something set that wont allow that connection. The guidelines set forth in our wi-fi policy state that no videos are to be downloaded due to bandwidth costs. I assume BYN Trial doesn't need a lot of bandwidth to do what it has to do to validate activation codes. I don't know the question I need to ask our wi-fi guy to determine if it is a local wi-fi setting issue. Again, I'm going to buy, just this little thing causes me a slight pause.

Still, if the PC has Internet access, the trial version should connect. It would not fail to connect solely because you are on a different network at the dark site. It is possible that the dark site WiFi is blocking whatever port BYE uses to validate the license. I do not believe that the TCP port number has been publicized.

I do not recall any other users having a similar issue. It may be that the target domain "otelescope.com", I assume, is blocking connections from the domain of your dark site's ISP. This could happen if the destination domain is being hit with a high volume of traffic and sees it as an attack. It might block the entire domain for at least some period of time. Can you browse to the otelescope site from your PC when at the dark site?

I didn't try browsing to otelescope at the dark site. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive to the site and I wont get out there till this weekend to try again. Assuming weather is good. Think I'll go ahead and purchase BYN so that I'll have something working when I'm out there. Would hate to make another trip and not be able to run the program. So when I do download the pay version, will it replace the trial version with the pay version and create new icons or will the existing icons still be used.

No, there is no need to download a new version of the app, unless a newer version of the code is released. The different capabilities of the Trial, Classic, or Premium versions are all dependent on the installed license key which activates or deactivates the programs features. All you need to do is purchase a Classic or Premium license and apply the purchased license key to your existing version. Then the program should operate without an internet connection.

So, because you are not downloading new software, except for version upgrades, the same icons can be used.

Of course as new versions of the program become available you can choose to install them in parallel to the old version. This may require you to re-enter your existing license in the new version of the app. You can then have separate icons for the different versions.

No as astroman133 said... unless you want to download a newer version.

Start BYN on your desktop, click the padlock icon in the upper right corner, and enter your purchase key there.
