Image quality in focus mode

HoxCa

Question

Hello,

I'm using a bahtinov mask to focus a FSQ106ED + Canon 6D. I use the focus mode in loop mode @0.8s exposure. Whatever i did in focus mode, backyard seems to force S1 quality and i loose a lot of precision in this mode.

So until now i stick to a preview in imaging mode in L quality with a 600% zoom for focusing with the bahtinov (so i loose the bahtinov helper which is only available on focus mode)

Is there an option or procedure, to switch the focus mode in L quality ?

Or could this be implemented in BYE as an option ?

Regards

Hoxca

I believe that use of small JPG images in Frame and Focus is by design. It allows faster response due to the smaller download.

This behavior has always been in BYE and seems to work well for other users. However most people use LiveView with bright stars for focusing and the small image is more than adequate.

Hello astroman133

I could understand that it's been used quite a lot at FD F6.5, but in my case S1 produce non consistent results @ FD F5 or F3.6...

S1 for liveview is legit, but if you shoot in loop @0.8s this is imho not a prerequisite.

For example: you cannot grab this on VEGA with S1 quality which result in a blurry imgage. This should be done in L quality.

The idea of having images in Frame&Focus taken in S1 is to reduce download speed... but if this is causing issues please make a feature suggestion in the feature suggestion box forum, this is where I go when I have a few minutes to spare and looking for small items to tackle.

Unfortunately i did not have a S1 image on my drive :(

Thank you Guylain for your prompt response, i will post this feature suggestion.

Did you have a format or guideline i need to follow for those feature requests before i submit this user story ?

No guidelines, just post something with as many info as possible.  I always try to include a handful of these user-features every major release.

Keep users happy and generally speaking most of the feature requests makes sense.  My only criteria for potential inclusion is that they must pertain to image acquisition because this is the only major design goal for BYN/BYN.
