bulb-mode issues with D810?

drfalken

Question

Hello,

the camera support grid for BYN suggests that for "some models" of D810, the bulb setting might not work correctly.

I looked for more details on the forum, but could not find related posts.

I'm considering purchasing the D810, but before dropping almost $3k on it, I would like to be sure that it will work with BYN.

Can somebody explain the nature of the issues referred to in the matrix?

Thanks!

Daniel

There are no issues. bulb works fine with BYN.

When BYN was initially released over 2 years ago some beta test users had issues taking bulb images with some lens attached bu never without.  If you don't have a lens and use a telescope this is not an issue.  I had a D810a on loan from Nikon 2 years ago for testing and I have personally tested this model.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the prompt response.

I don't plan to use the D810 with a scope (I have a CCD camera for that).

I was planning to use it with telephoto lenses such as the Zeiss 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar T* ZF.2 and the  NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II.

I am hoping that somebody on the forum can confirm that they have NOT encountered this issue with these specific combinations?

Thanks!
