  1. I'll provide my information first just to get that out of the way: Rebel T6i, Dial set to M (checked and double checked), Firmware 1.0 (no firmware updates available) Backuard EOS vs 3.1.8 Windows 10 64 bit Backyard EOS will not set my camera to Bulb. It has no problem with any of the exposure settings 30" or below, but if I start a capture plan with Bulb, it keeps whatever exposure value was selected before the capture plan. For instance, if I used 2" exposure while framing or previewing, then go into Imaging and started a capture plan with Bulb 90" duration, the camera information center shows the Tv 2" exposure and that is what it captures. During the plan the progress center will say downloading after 2 seconds (the camera also responds according to 2" exposure) but it will still count the full 90". The file name also includes Tv2s so it is definitely capturing only 2 second exposures. Now, if I go to EOS utility and set the camera to bulb there is no problem. I can capture just fine. Then, when I close EOS Utility and open Backyard EOS, the camera information center shows BULB and I can capture the full duration. If, however, I change the exposure setting (say for focusing) I cannot go back to bulb. The program will not update the camera setting to bulb. Let me know if you need anymore information from me. Thanks!
  2. Error Warning - Serial cable required to enable mirror lock and bulb. I purchased a serial cable to USB connection from one of the sites recommended suppliers. The provided converter cable has a white usb1.0 jack. I have the following kit. Canon 400d xti, Running windows 10 32 bit and Backyard EOS 3.1.1, premium, Laptop has usb 3.0 ports. I can operate Backyard using the cameras normal usb connector but require the cable to enable bulb and mirror lock up. Unfortunately Backyard EOS is not recognising that I have a serial cable attached to the camera. Can anyone please advise as I would love to start my astrophotography hobby off with this kit! Sean
  3. Hello, I’m looking into purchasing your software. I’m using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 / 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 ram. I’m using Parallels 13 and have installed windows 10. My camera is a Nikon 7100. I’ve set it to manual (M) and the viewfinder presents “PC” suggesting that the camera is communicating with my computer. BackyardNikon connects to my camera and I am able to obtain a live view to frame and focus. When I try to capture, the shutter speed doesn’t change to reflect my settings in the software. Bulb doesn’t work at all. When I do use Bulb, I get about a 30 mSec abort message. On a couple of occasions, the software seemed to lock up ~ however, the spinner in the upper righthand corner continued to function. After a while I closed the application and restarted it. I’ve included all my log files in an enclosed zip file. I also tried contacting the sales folks using the web form and uploading the zip file. Thanks for any assistance you can offer. Best Regards, Dave Logs.zip
  4. Hello, the camera support grid for BYN suggests that for "some models" of D810, the bulb setting might not work correctly. I looked for more details on the forum, but could not find related posts. I'm considering purchasing the D810, but before dropping almost $3k on it, I would like to be sure that it will work with BYN. Can somebody explain the nature of the issues referred to in the matrix? Thanks! Daniel

  6. Hi, I'm a new user and using 3.1.6, although the same happened with 3.1.5 I can capture images, but I can only change the exposure time to Bulb in BYE. I have the camera set to M and Exposure simulation is always on for my model. I can manually change the exposure on the camera, which is recognised in BYE, but when I try and change the exposure in BYE, the only option I am given is Bulb. Am I missing something? I am trying to do some planetary and moon photography as I'm just learning at the moment. Thanks
