1DX not responding to Live View changes from BYE

Question

Hi

The screen is black in Live View and any adjustment to ISO or Shutter Speed or ......... makes no change to the Live image.

Taking the picture however and making adjustments you can see the changes.

I also have a 5DIII and that works fine in Live View, I can make adjustments to the camera settings in LV and the changes take affect on the screen - increase ISO and the stars are brighter.

The 1DX seems to have fixed setting in LV that result in a black screen. Up the ISO and Shutter time and still black in LV but take the shot and you can start to see the stars.

Hope its an easy one. Using BYE 3.18 Premium. Various computers / laptop - same story.

Thanks in advance.

Is the live view screen always black, I mean even in day time when the actual camera LCD is not?

If this is the case it may be a specific issue 1DX.  The 6D had the same issue and as it turned out for that model the live view image is offset by a few bytes in the memory stream and we had to start reading the data from the specific offset.  This could be a similar case... in which case I need to go fish for finding this offset.

To confirm this please try live view in daylight or inside in a bright room, do you seed something on the LCD screen and do you see the same thing in BYE or is it still black?

Regards,

Guys

Thank you for the replies. Exposure Simulation setting was the problem. Now 'enabled' and all good.

Sorry - simple one - simple when you know !

Cheers

Ah... but even a simple one can help others in the future given the conversation in this thread :)
