Nikon 810a will not connect

crux

Question

I have a fairly new 810a and while I can connect to it via an 8 metre long USB (no hub) to a PC running the latest licence version, the trial version - 2.01 on my laptop running XP Pro or W10 using the same cable, the cam will not connect. Have tried several times - turn off/on cam plug-in unplug USB,  you name it I've done it.

It shows when you try to connect, the D7000 is highlighted!!!!. I have d/loaded this 30 day trial program several times and each time, I get no connection to cam to laptop.

I just want to to set up the 810a on a new 11" RASA to get focus etc. WiFi on cam is off and the CF card is blank. What now?

Thanks,

James

I am confused...It will connect to an XP system, but not a W10 system?

What is a RASA? Google did not provide anything relevant.

If it won't connect on Windows 10 then the cause may be a bad low-level driver. You should see if Nikon has released a new driver for Windows 10.

I just helped a friend who's imaging laptop would not connect to the Internet after the Windows 10 Anniversary update. All it took was to install an updated WiFi driver.

The D7000 being lit is a UI bug only and has been fixed already.  I has no impact.

Did you try the latest BYN 2.0.x.  I have several users using the D810a.  I had a D810a last year from Nikon and it does work work with BYN.

Make sure you connect the camera directly in the computer usb port, no hubs, as an initial test until it works.  Make sure the wifi is disabled on the camera.

Which drivers are you using in BYN?
Forget about the D7000 being lit, this is a UI bug only and has been fixed already.  I has no impact.

1. I'm using the latest BYNikon version.

2. No wifi and no hubs.

3. Driver that came with the CD. But does anyone have a driver link for the Nikon 810 just in case it was not loaded into the laptop?

4. In all cases, the 810a won't connect to either XP Pro, W7 or W10 on my two laptops, yet it will connect to a W7/10 on a PC!

RASA is the new Celestron 11" F2.2 camera scope.

As for a 810a driver, do you have any links that I can go to to get that driver?  I've looked on NikonUSA and found no such thing.

Okay, since the camera connects on one PC and not others the issue is most certainly a driver issue, not the BYE and not the camera or its settings.

How does Windows see the camera in device manager on the computer that works versus the one that does not?
