In the Backyard Nikon Forum there is a thread that is pinned near the top...Is my camera supported??

As developers of a Nikon DSLR camera control application Guylain and Chris want to provide support for as many cameras as possible, since this translates to as many customers as possible. So when an older camera is not supported it is not due to some arbitrary decision by them to omit that camera from their application. They rely on Nikon to provide the low-level access to the cameras in their product line.

Since the D100 is an older model and is not listed in the support grid, you can be very sure that it is not supported by BYN. Other Gen1 cameras (D70 and D80) are explicitly listed listed as unsupported. The most likely reason is that Nikon has dropped support for those cameras and no longer provides, or never did provide, a Software Development Kit (SDK) library to allow 3rd party developers to control it.
