Not connecting to a new D5300

Bonjour Guylain,

 

I downloaded your software yesterday.

I tried connecting my D5300 and it didn't work.  Fresh memory card,  full battery.  

I turned it off and back on, no result.   I tried without the memory card,  it didn't work either.  What am I missing?

 

The camera  firmware is  C 1.01   L  2.013

 

I attached the log file.

What am I missing?

Ummm, good point.

 

Please try with the Nikon2016 SDK option when you connect your camera in BYN.

 

Keep us posted.  I have a few hundred users with a D5300, including Chris who developed BYN with me.

Does the D5300 have wifi?  If yes make sure to turned it off?

 

Try rebooting, sometimes this resets the drivers.

Wifi is turned off.    I tried rebooting the computer and still not working.

It freezes BYNikon everytime.

Without starting BYN. Just connect the USB cable from the camera to the PC and power the camera on. Does Windows recognize the camera and load the low-level driver? It should show up in the Windows Device Manager.

I am a few hundred and one now   ;-)

The 2016 SDK worked at first try.     I had selected 2015 and prior as this model has been around for a couple of years.

Yes, the D5300 has been around for a couple of years, but your camera has a firmware update that was released this year. That firmware update turned out to be incompatible with the Nikon SDK that was released at that time. Nikon had to scramble to release a new version of the SDK to support the new firmware. That is why you need to use the Nikon2016 SDK.
