Question

Just bought a new laptop to replace my ancient Gateway with Windows Vista.  Downloaded backyard Nikon 1.0 and tried to check out, but got an error message that I have already downloaded it.  Tried version 2.0, and when I tried to enter my registration, it said that I had the wrong version, and that I should download the most recent version.  How can I transfer my license to my new computer?

                              Thanks,

You are mixing things up I think; there is not such error as "I have already downloaded it".

Can you please provide the actual error.  Where are you getting this error?  On the website?  In BackyardNIKON?

I have just logged in using your account and I was able to download both BYN 1.0.x and BYN 2.0.x.

Keep us posted,

OK, so I downloaded BYN 1.0, which I believe is the version that I originally bought.  The error message that I get when installing is "License validation error!  Key or Identifier error."  When I try to load v2, I get the error message "License validation error! Application version not valid.  Please download the latest version of BackyardNIKON."  I am inputting what I believe is the correct key, as I saved it to a text file on my old computer.  I am using my user name which allows me to log onto the website, so I think that that is correct.  Should I delete the installations and start over?

                    Thanks for your help.

I would download and install BYN 2.0.1 since it is the latest and then validate the license. There should be no need to delete the 2.0 installation. Just install 2.0.1 over it. If you have BYN 1.0 in a different directory, you can delete that once 2.0.1 is working.

You do not need to maintain a copy of your license key. It is always available on this web site after you have logged in. Just click on "My Purchases" in the upper right corner. Then swipe across the license key, copy it to the Clipboard and paste it into the correct field on the validation screen. Your Identifier is your login ID for this web site. Be careful because it is case sensitive.

I hope this helps you to solve your problem.

Hi George,

Please send me a print screen of the error you get to support@otelescope.com.  Don't post it here in the public forum because it will contain your key :)

Thank you

I'm sorry but I didn't realize that the key was only for the trial version.  Everything works now.  I was desperate to get it working for the Connecticut star party this weekend.  Unfortunately, it looks like we will be rained out, so I won't be using it anyway. Thanks for your help
