Canon 6D connection issues

StargazrVern

Question

I was trying to do some imaging tonight, but was unable to get my 6D to connect. I am running Windows 7/64 bit and have had no problems in the past. Tonight when I tried to connect with BYE  and select the cameras driver (DIGIC 5/6 camera generally manufactured after 2014, I received the below message.

1) Make sure EOS Utility is not running.

2) Make sure the camera is turned on and the battery is fully charged.

3) If you are trying to connect a DIGIC II camera model such as the 5D, 20D, 20Da, 30D, or 350D make sure your are running Windows 32 bits.  These models do not work on Windows 64 bits.

4) If you are using a USB hub, remove it, connect the camera directly in a USB port on your computer and try again.

I retried and checked the above points to correct but nothing made a difference. I looked on the 'Supported Cameras" tab here and the Canon 6D shows that it will operate in 32 bit or 64 bit.

Anyone else with a similar problem, also I was able to connect with my Canon T3, but my 6D is my prefered camera for Astrophotography, this was a frustrating evening.

Thanks for any help, Bob.
