It all depends on whether or not the Nikon SDK supports making the connection, transparent to BYN.

I know that the Canon SDK does not support use of WiFi.

Also, WiFi can be problematic if it momentarily glitches. A glitch could cause BYN to hang and need to be killed and restarted. Also, if you are at a star party it may be that use of WiFi for equipment control is not allowed. Also it is slower than USB.

The WT-5 would be hooked up to the UT-1 to my D810A. So I could use ethernet as well.

I am not too worried about connection issues, just curious if it'll work or not.

Setup would be for my backyard only.

I won't receive the UT-1 & WT-5 for a week or two but I defintitely will test it if no one else knows for sure.

It may work, This said, you should always be concerned about connection issue. If the camera looses connection, even if 1 millisecond, it will disconnect from the computer and BYN will lose it's connection to the camera.
