Capture Speed Question

Stearnsy

Question

Hi there, I'm using Backyard EOS for the first time for the eclipse in Texas.

I'm running some tests to start. I have my shutter on 1/2000 at multiple exposures. I want it to take continuous/rapid photos, but between every exposure, there's like a (3) second lag as the photo downloads to the Live View. Is there a way I can disable Live View or specify not to download, or some other thing I can do to speed up my exposures? I saw something in the manual about Queuing, but I don't have that feature (visible at least).

Thanks.

Chris

There is always going to be some delay between exposures. To minimize that delay you can save the image to the cameras memory card. This avoids the extra time that it takes to download the picture to the PC. The bad news is that you will be unable to see the picture until you are finished. Then you can either review it on the camera's LCD screen or download all the captures and review them on the PC. One thing that does make a difference is to buy a fast SD card. I was able to get the delay downo to about 1.25  seconds.

If you take all your images at 1/2000 of a second I would expect that you would be less than pleased with the results. When I shot the 2017 eclipse, my images  near totality were all different exposure durations and none of them were that short.

Thank you both! That definitely sped things up to a point I can live with.

The 1/2000sec is only intended to capture the Chromosphere, Baily's Beads portion. I will be varying to my exposures for totality, but the 1/2000sec is only a test run.
