Well, I have personally tried and tested the Z8 this weekend and I can confirm with 100% certainty that the latest RC7 pre-release not only connects to the Z8 with BYN 64 bits version but that live view works as well.

Please re-download, re-install, and reboot.

I happened to have a freshly formatted and reinstalled windows 10 laptop available so I installed only .net and BYN, still no success connecting. I put the camera in airplane mode. USB data connection is set to MTP/PTP. I found another setting in the Z8 for "USB connection priority", I tried both "Upload" and "Shooting" 

The Z8 you were testing with this weekend, does it have the newest firmware? I am on version 2.0

The error below from your log files says it all; the issue is that the Nikon SDK is not even loading.... your camera firmware is irrelevant here, your issue is the computer.

Make sure you have the C++ 2017 or higher installed on your computer.
