Question

Hi Guylain,

Long time!!  Hope things are going well!

I parked this hobbit for a long time until now my son now wants to learn it with my old setup...

Realized I can't download the software anymore but I do still have the old laptop but missing your software.

It will be the best if you still have the version supports Windows XP/7?  No need to struggle if not, I understand it is been a long time.

Appreciate your support!

I am not Guylain, but though I might try to provide an answer anyway.

You should be able to download the software, and any BYE license that you may have purchased in the past is still valid. There are several past releases available to be downloaded via the BackardEOS Download link in the footer of this page.

The problem with trying to use BYE with Windows XP or 7 may be that Microsoft no longer supports or updates those versions of the operating system and they lack the security software that would allow you to validate your license with the O'Telescope license servers. Since those servers face the public Internet the must be outfitted with the latest security software. There may also be compatibility issues with newer versions of BYE requiring a recent version of .NET that is not available from Microsoft for older versions of Windows that are no longer supported.

You may have better luck if you tried to upgrade your old laptop to Windows 10, but that may not be trouble-free either. Microsoft may have a tool that can analyze your old laptop and provide guidance about whether you could do the upgrade to Windows 10. The onward march of technology drags us all with it. Forcing us to keep up or get off. Sorry that this is not the answer that you hoped to get.

I hope this is useful.

I no longer support xp/w7/w8 anymore. Things may still work, but no support provided, no updates, etc.

You can still download older version and if you have your software key from back in the day, it may still work. I believe the earliest version in 2.0.9 from 2012

This said, you'll also be limited to camera models that were released back then.
