Not necessarily, BYE communicates with the Camera using the Camera SDK.

BYE can only issue commands that the camera is capable of doing using its buttons and menu functions.

This said, BYE does not implement 100% of the camera functionality available through its menu, only a subset needed for BYE to operate for astrophotography.

Also, BYE cannot have the camera do a function that the camera is incapable of doing on its own.

Regards,

BYE does not control the camera directly. It uses a software library from Canon that is called the EOS DSLR Software Development Kit (EDSDK, or just the SDK).

I assume that by LVM you mean LiveView mode. In LiveView, BYE sets the exposure and ISO and issues a "start LiveView" command. The SDK sends a notification when a LiveView frame is available. BYE downloads it and the process repeats until the requested number of frames is reached or LiveView is suspended.

The details of how the SDK interacts with the camera to accomplish this are not generally known. However, since the frames come down as Debayered small JPG images, the likely answer to your question is No. This can be inferred because the data that is read out from the sensor is Raw values that must be Debayered, processed (like stretched, smoothed, sharpened, denoised, etc.) before it is available to be downloaded by BYE.
