A manual for an older version of BYE is part of the current download package.  You can access it from the Windows Start Menu.  With all the emphasis on releasing new, long-awaited versions of BYE and BYN, the manual update has been put on a back burner.  This is solely my comment as a user.

If you have questions about how use application features, you can ask questions in this forum.  Lots of long-time users post and reply here.

I confirm what Rick just said.  The manual, though dated, represent a solid 80% of the current features as-is.

I will get to it once BackyardNIKON is release production quality... it's taking much of my free time lately.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

thank you both, the manual is just fine, it's no problem for me that is does not cover the latest features.

But at least now I could read what ByE is and does. Maybe it's just me being dumb, but I was not able to find out from the website what it is all about. I just read in some forums that it is a 'must have' for astrophotography, but never knew why. ;-) I was not even aware it's a computer software, I believed it's kind of an alternative EOS firmware, like MagicLantern...

Thanks again and have a great day!

Tusker,

BackyardEOS is not a firmware and certainly no like MagicLantern either.

BackyardEOS is a computer program that installs on your PC to control your camera, just like EOS Utility is.  Except it is purpose built for astronomy.

Hope this helps,
