d5100 cshello diy serial cable

HI,

Excellent program.Still using the trial version.

made up a serial cable to try out Bulb mode.

Shutter is opened,but never seems to change position,even when the next exposure is ready to start.

no image is shown.

Message: timeout error xx xseconds when downloading image.

Will be purchasing premium backyard for Nikon for Astrotilla integration.

ive gone through a number of threads,but don't seem to get an answer.

Your help would be appreciated

Hello All,

Thanks for your replies.

Found the problem with the serial cable.Ground line was open circuit in the MDC shutter cable release.using an rs232 dongle,the cable cost me under $30 dollars to make.

Purchased the BYDNikon premium yesterday.tested it last night everything works perfectly under Bulb mode.

BYD is brilliant.

Sorry, but I'm not sure that I saw a question in your post.

 

From the information that you provided it seems that there is a problem with your serial cable.

 

Does BYN work for short (non-BULB) exposures, without the serial cable?

You'll need to indicate which Nikon Model you are using, as several models have poor or no support by the Nikon SDK.

It might help, as well, to provide a description or reference for your DIY Serial Cable.
