Replacement PC - Download!

cepheus@42

Question

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a replacement laptop. I need to download the program onto the new laptop, however I have encountered a problem:

I bought the original product over a year ago and no "account" was needed to make the purchase. I received my product key for the premium product and started using. Everything was fine.

Then my old laptop died and a new one was purchased. I tried to download to the new laptop and found that the product key I have is 5 sets of characters and not 6....seems it has been changed. I have no account as one was not required with my original purchase and so I cannot upgrade a trial version with the product key I have. I am not going to buy it all over again as I have already paid for it and have the key and email to prove it.

I am Chairman of a very large astronomical society and although I have enjoyed using this software and was told I could "easily" download to a new laptop if I had to replace it, it looks as if I am going to have to advise members and anyone asking that this is not the case. I want to exhaust all avenues at getting this done before I issue this warning to others.

I hope someone knows what to do so I can continue to use the software and recommend to others.

Peter

Hi folks,

I'm in the same boat with Peter, so to speak.  My hard drive crashed, and I had to replace it.  Following the instructions on the upgrade page, I went to the store and put my BYE version in the shopping cart, went to checkout, entered the first line of my 5-line license as a "coupon code", pushed "enter" (overlooked that button the first time!) ..... and ... invalid!   Yes, I did have to enter the license manually because my computer wouldn't let me do otherwise, but I was careful to distinguish between the skinny zeroes and the wider capital o's.  I'm just sure I got it right...  but I'm blocked from receiving the replacement program.  I'm really stumped.  I've been spending hours on this ... can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Bob

Well, I just verified the coupon associated with your purchased email and it is valid.  So despite you being sure you typed it correctly I'm 110% positive you did not :(

Please try again and make sure you use your coupon associated with a purchase key and not a trial key, I'm seen people do this in the past :)

Keep us posted.

Dear Astroman and Guyroch -

I think I bought it about two years ago, and it was a 3.3 or so, I think.  I think there was an upgrade along the way, I'm not sure.  Maybe I can reinstall the old crashed drive and get it to run long enough to find the version and maybe confirm that I have the right license number and not the trial one that I used at the beginning, before I bought the program.  It was a five-line license key, so I think that means it was the permanent version and not the trial. Is that right?  (The first line ends with VZ33O)

Thanks for helping,

Bob

Bob,

Probably 3.0.3 is what you bought.

As part of the upgrade and purchase process you need to provide the first line of the 3.0.x license as your coupon code.  This needs to be entered exactly. If the first line is accepted, the cost of the purchase will be FREE. Once you have the new 3.1.5 software downloaded and installed, you come back to this group, log in and click on "my client area" at the top of this page to get your new 3.1 license key. You can then copy and paste that license key into the license validation dialog in BYE and you should be all up and running.

The key ending with "VZ33O" is a trial key, not a purchase key.

Your classic purchase key from Oct 7th 2013 ends with "BUPAC".  Make sure you use that one to upgrade.

Well, I wasn't able to get my license key off the old hard-drive, so I guess I'll be buying a new one.  :(   Oh well, the program is well worth it  :)  I sure should have made a copy of it in my documents.  Hmmm ... maybe I did!  I'll search out in the observatory!  (Never dawned on me that there might be a hard copy!)

Thanks again, Guylain and Rochon,  for your help

Thanks for wanting to buy be another case of beer... but there is no need since you already have purchased it in the past and you are entitled for a free upgrade.

Send me an email to support@otelescope.com and I will send you the required coupon.
