Question
hxpi
I was testing remote access with my laptop using BYN and the interface stops "working" after selecting one of the live view modes, i.e. Frame and focus, drift, etc. I tried starting BYN before the remote session and during the remote session with the the same results.
What happens is when first staring up BYN everything works fine. The interface works and I'm able to connect to the dslr. When I go to live view, then the interface essentially "disconnects" from the screen. None of the interface is available and the remaining graphics of the interface are replaced under the mouse by other running program interface elements as the OS repaints the screen. It's as if the OS no longer recognizes the interface graphics for the program. The program is still running and is in the task bar but I am not able to bring it up onto the screen. I switched to SGP and everything works fine, live view and all. So my guess is it is the way the graphics are handled by BYN through RDP and for some reason stop working once live view is invoked. Perhaps it's something with my software environment so hopefully someone can assist me in figuring this out. Maybe this configuration just wasn't meant to work!
Here is the setup:
2013 15" rMPB running Win7 x64
Airport Express 802.11n wireless hub
IPad Air 2 running RDClient
The mount/camera/accessories are connected to the laptop via several USB extension cables. The laptop resides in another sheltered location away from the gear. The laptop and iPad connect to the Airport Express. Then the RDClient is started. Most applications behave well for the most part through RDClient. However there is one quirk with Stellarium where it cannot be started through RDClient but will run if started before connecting with RDClient. This is due to some conflict between remote access and OpenGL.
So I mainly use this setup as a solution to assist in aligning the mount and adjusting focus of the main and guide scopes. However, it is convenient to be able to have remote access for additional setup, review and monitoring.
Hopefully there is something that can be done to get BYN working with the RDClient. I really like the features in BYN but they are not available to me using remote access! If the logs are needed, let me know.
Thanks.
Ciao,
Mel
