AstroTortilla does work, but much of the heavy lifting is done with astrometry.net behind the scenes. I doubt that a different wrapper around a local astrometry.net solver would behave any differently, with the same parameters.

I would suggest that you share the image that you are trying to solve with an experienced AstroTortilla user to see what they can do.  I had the same problem (image would not solve) when I first tried to use AT, but with a bit of mentoring I quickly got the hang of it.  Now my images typically solve in 20 or 30 seconds.

It is all in the parameters that you provide to AT and the quality of the image that you provide and read the astrometry.net documentation to learn what the various parameters do and how to speed up solving.

Also, since BYE/BYN support AstroTortilla, the protocol is in place for an external application to request an image from BYE/BYN.  You should be talking to the ansvr developers about adding support for BYE and BYN.  And since Guylain has already said that he is enhancing the protocol to provide more functionality for access by external apps, perhaps now is not a bad time for this.

Yes, I'm currently enhancing the protocol to support TheSkyX for those how have a Paramount mount.  I'm working with Richard Wright from Software Bisque for this integration and he tells me that he is just about done with his part, which means I am too :)

EDIT:  I have also enhanced it to support ModelMaker for those who have a 10Micron mount but I have not heard from Per Frejval to see how he is progressing with his implementation.

The purpose of the integration with TheSkyX and ModelMaker is to allow using BYN/BYE for building a sky model, which is required for these mounts to do imaging without guiding.

Regards,
