WiFi

Question

I'm not using BEOS much anymore. I done like to tether my camera to the Laptop.  Just too much stuff when it comes to auto-guiding.

Is V3 or 3 Premium WiFi capable?   I can already shoot with my WiFI ready Canon without BEOS.  I would upgrade if it was WiFi ready.

Anything in the future or now?

Yes, your camera may have WiFi capability, but it only works for downloading images, not for setting parameters, displaying LiveView, or controlling the shutter. If the camera did support full control via WiFi and it was supported by the Canon SDK, then it is highly likely that it would work with BYE.

However, most of the larger star parties (Winter Star Party, Texas Star Party, Cherry Springs Star Party, Black Forest Star Party are the ones that i have attended) do not allow WiFi to be used for equipment control, only for Internet access.

I control mount, focuser, and 2 cameras from my laptop with no problem.  I don't understand why you think that tethering your Canon will cause you problems.  My experience does not support this. You are also giving up all the other features of BYE, like actually being able to see your captured images on your PC as they are taken, and like dithering, to name a couple of important ones..

Thanks for the replies!  My first time ever posting on any forum.

Actually I can completely control my 70D via WiFi using the Canon EOS utility, live view is fully functional, shutter, timer, viewing images as they are shot.  I will try to add a screen shot if I can.

There is also an Android app called DSLR Controller where I can control my 70D via WiFI, I think it was $7.99.

It’s great for doing time lapse and anything else you would want to do.  You can do just about everything you can do with the camera itself.  I use a Nexus 7" Tablet.

I think I will agree that BYEOS does offer a lot of advantages, and since I’m already looking at one monitor screen or another the tethering is not that big a deal.  I guess I just thought it would be cool to operate BYEOS wirelessly.

Thanks!

Looks like I don't know how to add the screen shot
