How to use BYE for live stacking of DSO's

dippinggrizzly

Question

I would like to know if and how I could use BYE for live view stacking (EAA) of deep sky objects.  I do see that stacking can be used as a focusing aid using short exposures, but I would like to do EAA live stacking of DSO's in the 5 to 10 second range per sub.  Can this be done?

I am using a Canon eos 1000d camera mounted to my scope and have tried "Astrotoaster" for live stacking EAA, but the software has too many problems and crashes often.

You can use DSS-Live along with BYE/BYN.

The current versions of DSS are available at:  https://github.com/deepskystacker/DSS/releases/latest

This will install both DSS.EXE and DSS-Live.EXE

Set your DSLR and BYE to generate JPG files (or RAW+JPG) to the BYE Download Folder.

Set DSS-Live to monitor the PC Folder where you have set the BYE Download Folder.

DSS -Live will monitor that Folder and create a Stacked Image every time it detects an additional JPG File.
