Canon 350D taking random shots

Question

Hello all

 

I am useing a Canon350D with version 3.1 but after all of a sudden my Canon is behaveing

very odd. The Cam is takeing random shots with a 2 second exposure and nomatter what i do

it keeps doing that even when BYE program cloced. To me it looks like a broken cable but

I wanted to check for solutions here first.

When a serial cable it plugged in the camera will take a picture each time the serial port is open.  When you boot your computer for instance Windows will run a series of tests on each serial port and when this happens the camera shutter will fire.

 

Do  you have another application running that is polling the com ports (an opens them) in order to find the device it is looking for?  If yes that may be the culprit.
