Log License Validation

astroman133

Question

It might be useful to log information during license validation, without disclosing any confidential information, so that new user issues with validation can be more quickly resolved. This would lessen user frustration and provide a better experience. It would prevent an issue where admins say that the user's key and identifier are valid, but the user is repeatedly unable to validate their license. It would, at least, log whether the user-entered fields appeared to be correct but the software was unable to validate them with the server. Providing additional information to the user, rather than just "validation failed" would also be useful if it leads the user to resolve their issue without creating a long, frustrating thread on the support forums.

That logging is there, but it requires a special keystroke combination to enabled + a time sensitive code that I need to generate beforehand, which I generate before initiating a remote desktop session with the individual user to debug. This said, after 7+ years with the same license key process/schema, it almost always related to a local access right on the local computer -or- the use is not using the latest BYE/BYN version.
