Your camera requires a configured serial cable for BULB or Mirror Lock.

Question

OK, I am trying this for the third time. I obviously do not know how to use your support system.  I do not have an option to POST my support request to the forum.  I doubt this will make it.

I just got a new DSUB from Shoestring Astronomy and I can get BYE to work with my camera, a canon rebel xt (350D) and it works in every mode EXCEPT BULB.  Not matter what different setting for BULB I pick it issues the error message listed in the title of this post.

OK, I made the change to the cable drop down and that did the trick.  I could have sworn that I had already done that but apparently not.  Anyway, that fixed my issue.  That's to all that responded so quickly.  I am totally new to this so it took me a good bit to figure out how to post to the forum and even then I did not get everything in the post and in the right order.

Again, Thanks.

Select DSUSB in the Cable Support field in the Image Capture Plan (Imaging Mode) and it should be fine.  The issue is that you did not tell BYE which cable you have so it is trying to use the regular USB cable and it is not working.

I have a D7000, and for what i've seen untill now is that I have to get a DSUSB cable to be able to shoot exposures longer than 30s in bulb mode. Can anyone post a link where I can find this cable to buy? Is only the cable I need or there is an additional HW?

I'm getting one for my D7000 as well did you get yours working?
