Cable for connecting Nikon D5300 to BYN

AWG

Question

Hi, as a newbie to the dark arts of astrophotography I have a question regarding connecting my new Nikon D5300 to my laptop running BYN which is:-

On the Camera Support Grid it says that for Bulb setting the D5300 does not need a serial cable so do I just use the USB cable that comes with the camera, I pick the camera up tomorrow so would like to know if I need any more cables. My existing camera D3300 is not supported according to the Grid as I found out when I inserted the USB cable to BYN.

Any advice would be appreciated as several of our Astronomy Society members are keen to try BYN or BYE depending on their choice of camera.

Kind regards

Alan Gosling

Remember:

You, or other Members of your Astro Club, can explore the Functionality of BYE/BYN during the Daytime with any Standard Camera Lens mounted to the DSLR being tested.

This means that you can become familiar with the various Main Tabs, determine if any additional Settings should be tweaked for best Performance, and should any Questions arise you can Post to this Forum for Help - All BEFORE you attempt a Demo to your Astro Club!!
