SDK a useful item?

zelonisv_bob

Question

Having just read the only posts (other than my own) that mention the Canon T6s, I'm wondering why the concern about SDK (software development kit)?  I'm on the verge of deciding whether to purchase the T6s model and so I wonder if I'm getting into something that I might have trouble with?  I've been using BYEOS version 3.1.8 with my T1i with no obvious problems.  Thanks.

Bob Z.

The SDK is the "Middleware" between BYE/BYN and the Camera's Onboard Controller.  It is a piece of software developed by the Camera Maker, and provided so that Developers such as Guylain can "Work their Magic".  It is absolutly NECESSARY for BYE and its competitors to operate a DSLR.

The problem has been that Canon has a habit of delaying release of the SDK for a specific Model for some Months after that Model is released for Sale.

The reality is that this Concern is no longer a problem for the Cameras you are considering - the T6i, T6s, and T7i are all Fully Supported in the current SDK Releases, as evidenced in the Supported Cameras List.
