BYE Not displaying JPG files in Image Center list and is Not Downloading JPG files to Folder

rodandellen@live.com

Question

I just started using BYE today and I have been experimenting with the program and my camera (EOS 80D).  Everything seems to be working OK except the photo downloads to my laptop.  Even though BYE is set to capture both RAW and JPG photos, only the CR2 files are showing up in the Image Center and in my selected download folder on my laptop.  It does download "Preview" JPGs to the laptop.

Any thoughts?

Dear Guy,

Thanks for the download and coding correction.  However, I'm sad to report that the system is still just downloading a CR2 file, no JPG file.  I have attached a screenshot of my BYE Screen and settings.  I have also attached a copy of the log file for the session I just completed.

I hope you can get this fixed when the new Canon SDK is out, if that's the issue.  Meanwhile, all is not lost.  I guess I can save a "baseline" JPG file from the CR2 file and get one that way, if need be.

Have a good day.

Rod

Guy,

A new twist to this issue.  I have been experimenting with a 50' USB connection between PC and camera.  Everything was going OK except that image downloads were taking a lot longer with the 50' cable.  Still just getting RAW files to save.

So to save download time between images I tried saving just to the camera SD card.  When I did that both JPG and RAW files were saved to the SD card.  But, obviously I was not getting to see image results in the BYE Image Center.

Then I tried saving both to "PC + Camera".  When I did that I started getting both RAW and JPG files saved to the PC and the Camera.  I switched back to "Save to PC" only and only got RAW files saved to PC.

Does that give you any clues?

Best regards

I am using RJ45/CAT6 adapters (USB (Male)To RJ45 + USB (Female) USB over Cat5/5e/6 Extension Adapter RJ45) to extend my USB reach beyond the 16' limit.  Seems to work OK.

I am thinking a 50' cable might allow me to sit in my car on particularly cold nights.  May not need 50' but just a first go at it.  I have lots of CAT6 laying around and a lot of connectors to use.  So might as well see what I can do.

BTW, the photo that I just uploaded was taken in L' anse Aux Meadows, Newfoundland this past September.
