Paul,

First, remove and re-install of the same version of BYE will likely not fix anything.

There were a couple of dozen releases of BYE3.1, from 3.1.0 to 3.1.18, as well as several pre-release versions. Somewhere in there support for the 6D Mk II was added. In any case, you should install the latest, BYE 3.2.2. You will get many new features and fixes, as well as support for newer models.  AND the upgrade is free! Also the developers will be better able to help you troubleshoot any issues when you are on the latest release.

Things to check with your 6D Mk II...Were you ever able to use BYE with your 6D Mk II? Does Windows see the camera when it is plugged in and turned on? Look in the Windows Device Manager. If it is not listed then there is no way that BYE will be able to connect. Make sure that WiFi is disabled in the camera that the cable is securely connected at both ends and that the camera is in Manual or BULB mode. As a last resort, you could install and try to connect the Canon EOS Utility application to the camera. If it doesn't work you can get support from Canon. If the EOS Utility connects then so will BYE, as long as you are sure to stop the EOS Utility from automatically connecting to the camera when it is first recognized on the PC.
