shutter releases and time lapse

dts350z

Question

So I'm also gearing up for time lapse, but thinking about the huge number of shutter releases needed. 24 for every second of video, so a 3min video would take 4320 releases. That's 4x the number of releases I have on my camera now.

with 9 of those, I would reach the failure point for some cameras, as reported in this article:

http://www.pixsy.com/how-to-check-canon-shutter-count/

Should I/we worry?

Would using mirror lockup reduce the wear and tear?

Is there a way to use live view instead, or would the camera overheat and shut down? Maybe some combination of live view on and off to keep the temp down?

It looks like maybe magic lantern has some options. "fps override", "silent pictures". found this video:

Sorry, but even with LiveView you wouldn't likely get 24 images per second downloaded to the PC; especially with the newer large cameras.

Sure, if the camera has over temperature protection it may shut down due to extended use.

You know that BYE only supports ML as long as ML is transparent to the SDK.

I have Magic lantern and trust me it is magic>  you can do everything you heart want s to do :o), for  my timelapse i use

Intervolemeter  (time between pictures)  0 to 9 Hours (and the other option is taking pics like crazy

and  while i have my intervolometer, i set the BULB timer ( How long exposure you want for you pic) 1 second to 8 hours exposure.

Here is a fast test that i did! With this set up

I use a  Canon Rebel T1I and installing ML is very easy!

This was only a test but you see the illimited stuff you can do with ML
