BYE incompatible with DSS and other stacking programs?

PastorVince

Question

Hi, I purchased the premium BackyardEOS (BEOS) for astrophotography a few weeks ago. Last night I finally got a little time to try it out. After making some novice mistakes, I did manage to take some pictures and configuration frames. When I tried stacking the frames however, I get an error. Deep Sky Stacker (DSS) says they're incompatible even though they are in .CR2 format. Sequator won't accept them either. I'm sure there is something I can be doing differently, but I'm not sure what that is. One clue, when I load the pictures into DSS, there appears to be no values included for the following categories: score, FWDM, SkyB..., and # of stars. These all have values when I load up photos taken without BEOS. Do you have any advice?

Thank you,

Vincent

The RAW (and even the JPG) files generated by your Canon DSLR (and transmitted to your PC by BYE) are indeed FULLY COMPATIBLE with DSS, SEQUATOR, AFFINITY, PIXINSIGHT, STARTOOLS, NINA and all other Astro Image Processing software.  Hundreds of Users attest to this every month with the Images posted to CloudyNights, Astrobin and other Forums and websites.

Your "one clue" is faulty, as those are NOT values populated upon Loading Image Files, but rather are Statistics populated AFTER the Image Set has been processed (calibrated at least).  And even then, if the User's Images were too Poorly Focused then those Images will not have Statistics shown.

I'm sorry to be rude, but this is a pure case of RTFM.  You obviously have not read the DSS Quick FAQ nor the deeper DSS Manual,
