Anyone Willing To Test Dithering With Metaguide?

admin

Question

Chris has completed a first pass at integrating MetaGuide with BYE/BYN for dithering for those that prefer MetaGuide over PHD for guiding.

We are plagued with clouds here and we can't run real tests.  Any volunteers?

If yes let me know and I will send you a download link sometime next week.

Regards,

Well I guess there's a small dither. Here's a screen shot of the offsets in DSS:

Compare that to the offsets, from the same session, but guided/dithered by PHD2:

I left the defaults in BYE for metaguide dither settings. I'l try again with more aggressive settings.

It's interesting that the FWHM is (sometimes) lower in the metaguide subs. From watching the graphs I would have thought I had better guiding (so tighter stars?) in the PHD2 subs. I was goofing around with camera settings during the metaguide run as well.

FYI I'm using a mallincam Xtreme color with metaguide. So far have only got it to guide on a single very bright star in the frame.
