I have a user who reported live view to work on the D300.

Is the planetary and drift align feature greyed out or enabled?

Is there a setting in the camera that would prevent live view from working?

When you go in Frame and Focus and trigger live view directly on the camera does it show on the LCD and does it show in BYN?

post-2733-0-90598700-1422239032_thumb.jpgGuylain,

All the features are enabled but when it comes to Live View, Planetary and Drift align it doesn't work. I tested the camera by itself on live view and it works perfectly, I can see it on the LCD display, but when I try to do the same through camera control on BY Nikon I only get a dark screen, the camera just doesn't respond (no mirror sound or anything).I took  a screen pic. just in case it helps. See attachment.

Merci beaucoup.

Ok, I think I'm on to something.

Is your camera on BULB when you go into live view?

The Nikon SDK does not allow live view when in BULB mode, you need to select another exposure value first.

I actually set it to a different value in BYN but I have a feeling that it does not change and as a result your camera is still in BULB mode so live view is not triggered.

Keep me posted, if this is the case at least we know what the root cause and I'll have a better chance to fixing it.

Hi Guylain,

Success!. In order to get Live view on the D300 I had to change the shutter speed (Main Command dial (wheel on the back (top right side) to any value other than Bulb. This works with the Advance mode dial (top left wheel) on the "S" position (also on "Lv" possition). This is true for "Frame and Focus", "Planetary" and "Drift Align" features on BYN.

Now I can't wait to take it out in the field and do some AP.

Thank you very much for all your help. I'll keep you posted and I'll post an image as soon as I capture something.

Merci Beucoup!!!!

This tells me that the D300 is very limited in that the camera does not allow changing the Shutter Speed value at all, probably not even from BULB to any other shutter speed and back.

This means you will not be able to have a mixed capture plan containing BULB and other shutter speeds at once.
