When I ordered my copy od BackyardEOS last month, I check the camera compatibility chart and found that a serial cable was required in addition to the USB cable. I ordered one right away from Hap's Cables so that I would have everything I needed to start using BYE for long exposures. I've been unable to get the cable to work. I have an IBM Thinkpad T60 which doesn't have a serial port, so I got a serial - USB adapter. That didn't work. Whenever I connect the cable to the camer, the camera shutter would open and BYE wouls report the camera had been disconnected. I got an Expresscard serial port and that, likewise, did the same thing.
Today, I find that it appears that the Rebel XS will take long exposures with just the USB cable. I've been making test exposures of 120 seconds with no problems.
My question is, does the Canon EOS Rebel XS require anything more than the USB cable it came with to use all of the features of BYE?
