L Display In Histogram Center

Batch

Question

Hi,

After updating to vr 3.1.1 Premium a couple of days ago I had the opportunity to use it for the first time last night. I am very impressed with some of the feature updates and tweaks.

One item that I am hoping to reset though is the histogram display. In the past when I set it to "L" the display combined all of the humps into one luminance hump, now it provides three separate humps (similar to the RGB display but not coloured). Am I able to reset this to display a single pedestal?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Guylain,

I have attached a screen shot....hope its clear enough.

I don't know if it makes any difference but the imaging conditions were pretty poor last night (fog and intermittent cloud). As this was the first modestly good night in a while with none forecast in the near future I only did a brief session to test out a new focuser.

Thanks,

Bill

Okay, no problem there.  All 3 channels are combined.

The hump color is orange indicating the L channel only.  The fact that you have 3 humps is only because this is how the data is distributed.  All is fine.

Thanks Guylain,

That's interesting....I have not seen that before.

One further thing, when I select the "current image histogram" I get a single L hump....not three separate humps. Why would this be different from the Histogram Center?

Believe me you are not the first to say that.....I'll try to explain it better.

From what I've observed BYEOS provides two histogram displays:

  1. The main display in the "Histogram Center" (This shows as three humps)
  2. A second histogram representation when you click on the side icon labeled  "display the current image histogram in Luminosity and RGB" (this shows one hump)

I've attached an image.

Ummm... odd, I'm stump.  Let me look into that.  You may have found a bug... mind due you are not suppose to see that histogram display button, it should only show on small monitors like netbook where there is simply not enough room to display the histogram in the main form.

However, they should be the same, and they are not.  I'll take a deeper look.

Thanks.
