Camera lockup and error msg

ABPiecka

Question

I am using the D800 and am able to connect and trigger the shutter however I keep getting the following error and the system aborts and the camera locks up with a scrolling bar in the led panel.

{kNkMAIDResult_Valueout of bounds}kNkMAIDCommand_CapAtart,33560,kNkMAIDDatatype_Genericptr,474735936)

I then have to turn off the camera to unlock it.

Any idea as to what I am doing wrong...cables???  Am using the USB that came with the camera.

Thanks

Al

Hello,

i`m using firmware A=1.10, B=1.10.

I just checked the functionality again. The D800 works flawlessly when used with my telescope (camera connected via F-Mount to T2 adapter).

I then tried the D800 with a Nikon 60mm AF-S lens attached (AF switch on lens set to off as well as AF-Mode on camera set to manual):

The camera connects and i can start the "Focus and Frame" module. However when taking a picture i get the following error:

19:24:08  Licensed to BETA TESTER (support@otelescope.com)
19:24:15  Nikon drivers initialized.
19:24:20  Attempting to connect camera...
19:24:22  D800 CONNECTED!
19:24:45  Imaging session started.
19:24:51  Imaging session cancelled
19:24:51  [kNkMAIDResult_ValueOutOfBounds] (kNkMAIDCommand_CapStart, 33560, kNkMAIDDataType_GenericPtr, 270397248)
19:24:55  Imaging session cancelled

19:25:20  IMAGE_20141222-19h25m13s035ms.NEF

Note: Before connecting i set the image quality to raw only and after connecting the quality was set to raw + jpg.

To summarize: With AF-S lenses attached i get the above error no matter the focus mode. With a normal T2 adapter everything works flawlessly.

greetings

Ah crap... I think you solve it.... a lens!

Now I need to figure out how to fix it without a D800 on hand.

Thank and I'll ping you if I need some testing.

Yeah :)

It's been fixed but the SDK refuses to take BULB pictures over USB when a lens if connected to the camera for the D800.  This is documented in the camera support matrix for BackyardNIKON.

Do you have a lens on?  If yes remove it a try BULB again.

Hope this helps,

Are you using the latest BETA 02g?

Do you have mirror lock ON?

This was fixed for the D810 in 02g but some users are still having issues with the D800 <_>

It's an error when taking BULB images over USB.  BULB over serial cable does not generate this error.

I know it doesn`t help at solving the issue but my D800 works flawlessly with the current Byn version. It is connected via the supplied USB cable.

Thanks for reporting your D800 is working with the latest beta.

I've been receiving nothing but conflicting reports with the D800.  For some it works and for others it does not.

What is your firmware version, maybe it plays a role?
