Connecting my T3i

kander13@verizon.net

Question

I recently upgraded from a Canon XSi to a T3i, and now I can't seem to get the camera to shake hands with BYEOS. The camera is recognized by the program, and I can activate live view, but I can't take any pictures, nor do I get any icons along the bottom row of the Capture Plan Center. I also don't get the FWHM focus function. I can't help but think that I've messed up a configuration option somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Kelly

Updated info: I just noticed that, on startup, I press the "Connect" button and I get the error message: "EOS Utility is running! Close EOS Utility and RESTART Backyard EOS." I close BYE and sure enough, EOS Utility is running. I close that application and restart BYE, hit the connect button and get the same error message, even though EOS Utility is no longer running. Might this be the source of my difficulty?

You have to kill the EOS utility process in the windows task manager. Closing the Canon application doesn't stop EOS Utility,

OR, you can go into the advanced settings in BYEOS, and turn off the the check for the EOS utility.

OR, you could uninstall EOS utility, if you don't need it.
