Enabled Live View during Planetary Capture Plan

chris1986

Question

Hello,

It would be useful for the "Pause" during multiple planetary captures to be implemented more like a timer. While capturing videos several minutes apart I need to make sure the target is still in focus centered (esp in 5X mode). However live view is disabled during the pause. Practically I cannot use the pause-option and end up putting a timer on my phone and start every new planetary video capture manually.

(BYE EOS3.1, Canon 550D)

What would you say to someone who doesn't want LiveView active when a loop is paused? They may be pausing because they want to allow the sensor to cool down.

You can do some of what you want by looping a limited number of times. When this finishes, you can switch to Frame & Focus, re-center and re-focus, then return to Planetary imaging and start the next sequence.

I would also say that the best way to focus is on a bright star. This would require moving the scope away from the planet to re-focus. Then moving back to resume imaging.

It may be unrealistic to expect to be able to do planetary imaging all night long with a single program. That said, it may be possible tp give you some of what you want. The developers will have to decide what features they want to try to automate.

Maybe this sort of timer I'm looking for could be an additional option apart from the pause. My point is that I need the option to regularly check that the target is centered. I have a SLT127 with Az-Mount with goto but without guiding. Even with fairly good alignment the target moves of center over time.

I saw that during pause the screen on the camera can still be used. So one question is whether the sensor is during that time actually off.

The easiest way to implement i guess would be to have a simple check box "enable/disable live view". So the user can simply toggle live view during pause depending on individual need.
