BackyardNIKON BETA 02g is ready for download.

Question

BackyardNIKON BETA 02g is ready for download.

Change log (from BETA 02f)

- bug fix: Live view on D3/D3s was not working due to a non-seekable memory live view stream on this model.  I'm hoping my change will solve this issue as I do not have a D3 to confirm.

- bug fix: Planetary jpgs were not always copied in the download folder.

- bug fix: Spot histogram was not always showing.
I'm hoping my change will solve this issue as this issue was random and difficult to reproduce.

- bug fix: BULB over USB on high-end models was not working.  This fix was tested with a D810 but

should work for D800, D600, D610, etc...

- bug fix: Planetary encoding background process no longer prevent image download in image capture.

- bug fix: Software version and software date fix in exif date.

- bug fix: Wrong filename sequence was used in file name.

- change: Drift Alignment box grid now displays a target circle as well.

- change: Low disk space warning is also display on screen in addition to the log file.

- change: Extended the beta key until late-December.

- added: Mirror-lock using SERIAL CABLE only.  I was not able to make it work over USB cable <_>

- added: The active thumbnail in the thumbnail strip is now highlighted.

- added: Battery percentage in the camera information center for most models.
- Testing on XP, Vista, W7, and W8

This BETA 02g will NOT overwrite your current BETA 02f installation.

Yes - that sounds like the cable and the problem I had. With the cable now, every time I click on the (forget name) button, the DSUB Check fires the shutter.

kevin

To close the loop on this, in case Guylain has been losing any sleep....  Replacing the cable for the DSUSB for the D300 and the USB cable for the D5200, both cameras work with BYN, now.  Wheeeee!  Now, if it quits snowing, I'll go try some more astrophography.

Thanks,

Karl

Thanks for coming with your result.

I've been sleep deprived for 2 weeks straight... I gonna go nap now :)

Like Si in Duck Dynasty would say... work hard, nap hard!

Hi,

have been away for a while and looks like progress has been made, but I get this error when I try to capture:

07:21:52 Licensed to support@otelescope.com (BETA Tester)

07:21:55 Nikon drivers initialized.

07:22:03 Attempting to connect camera...

07:22:04 D800 CONNECTED!

07:23:54 Imaging session started.

07:23:55 Imaging session cancelled

07:23:55 [kNkMAIDResult_NotSupported] (kNkMAIDCommand_CapSet, 33042, kNkMAIDDataType_EnumPtr, 353822952)

07:23:56 Imaging session cancelled

07:25:00 Imaging session started.

07:25:02 Imaging session cancelled

07:25:02 [kNkMAIDResult_NotSupported] (kNkMAIDCommand_CapSet, 33042, kNkMAIDDataType_EnumPtr, 353822952)

07:25:02 Imaging session cancelled

This is with a standard Nikon USB cable for the D800. Am I missing the boat here? Do I have to use the bulb release? I have it set to Single Shot; M exposure and AF is off.

BTW LiveView and Drift produce images.

I tested 02g with a D810 personally, the D800 should be the same.  All you need is the camera supplied usb cable.

Send me the full log file at support@otelescope.com, I can't do much with the the UI snippet log <_>

Logs sent. It pretty much worked in the older version I tried... think it was "c"..

BULB worked with a previous version on the D800?  This is very odd because people have been complaining for at least 4 to 5 months now that BULB was not working for the D600, D610, D800, and D800.

Can you please confirm mirror lock is OFF.

Try without a lens.

Try with RAW only, no Jpeg.  Your current setting is RAW + JPeg fine.

Keep me posted,

Guylain

Well, my memory is perhaps faulty and maybe I just used the focusing. Looks like that was in July.If I understand you correctly, it will not work with Bulb, you have to use the fixed up to 30s exposures?Mirror lock is off.Tried w/o lens and I got a buzzing sound that I did not like. Same results with a 50mm prime. Could not get the 1s exposure. Think I'd best wait until this is further along.

No, that is not what I'm saying.

I'm saying that 02g is the only version where bulb is working with the D810.  It did not work with previous versions.  With 02g I personally testing the D810.  I was hoping the D800, D600, and D610 would work too since they all had the exact same error thrown.

As far as I can remember, prior to 02g, I have never received a single report of the D600, D610, D800, and D810 working with bulb over USB.

Hope this helps in what I was trying to say.
