Dim Liveview

exmedia

Question

New to BYEOS.  I use a T3i with a wide field 65mm f/6.5 refractor.  Liveview in BYEOS is so dim as to be unusable.  Is this a function of the small aperture, my light-polluted skies, or something else (or all of the above)?

Thanks,

Richard

Welcome Richard.

There are a lot of variables at play here.  The first is that live view is barely 20 milliseconds worth of data.  That is not a lot to work with.

  1. If your camera has an option called "Liveview exposure simulation" make absolutely it is enables.
  2. Make sure you use the maximum ISO value your camera allows.
  3. Make sure you are in BULB mode or your TV value is > 2 seconds.

These are the 3 settings you need in order to maximize light sensitivity using liveview.

Hope this helps.
