Storing data

Rdvette

Question

Over all the functionality of the program is excellent, I use a Nikon D750 and D610.

When I open settings, then Image capture section. Why will it not allow me to store data on another hard drive(external) ? I only have 120gig left on my laptop HD.

I saved the settings, but it goes back to C: drive

Thanks

Rdvette

Do a test:  Change a couple of other BYN Settings, Save Settings, Close BYN, Restart BYN and see if those Settings are As-Saved.  If not, then...

Windows 10 has had issues with several of its Updates causing Issues with Ownership Rights on Existing Directories.  One suddenly finds that Files are no longer allowed to be Written/Saved in Directories that were previously Fine.  The suggested Solution is to Reinstall BYN into a New Directory.  (Or if you are skilled at correcting Windows File Privs...)

That being said, you will really need to keep at least the BYN Temp Directory on an Internal Drive.  BYN needs to be able to always and quickly write the Image File Data, and External Drives (even if attached via USB3) are slower to Start-up and Respond to New File actions.
