Getting through the firewall!

psugg

Question

Brand new HP laptop running Win 10 Pro. PHD2 is installed and seems to be opening up properly. I'm installing lots of stuff at this point (including Astrotortilla) on the new laptop and just wanted to be sure everything is playing nicely.

BUT PHD2 is not playing nicely - and getting it set up to dither (permanently) is proving to be a real challenge. I have tried many different things - so - there must be something I am missing.

What I have done so far...

Went in and checked "enable server" in PHD. But when I did that - I noticed that I never got the dialogue box to allow me to "allow access" through the firewall.

Went back into BYE - checked "Enable TCP server"

When I run "TEST" in the Dithering dialog box - it keeps saying "ERROR"  The odd thing is that I went in and made some changes to the firewall settings and a couple times when I clicked the TEST button - it said "success". But If I close BYE and come back later and click on TEST - it says ERROR again. ? ?

Anyone had this problem and know what is going on?

In PHD you must restart PHD after you change "Enable Server". The same is true in BYE when you change the "Enable Server" setting. Make sure that BYE is using "localhost:4300" as the dithering IP location.

Try turning off your firewall and anti-virus software to see if BYE and PHD can connect.

If you still think that your firewall software is blocking the port 4300 communication between BYE and PHD then there should be a way to open that port so that communication can continue.
