small jpg focus mode

Question

This is not really a question but an observation. If my Canon 450D is in A mode (auto) when I connect to BYE and then use the focus mode the small JPG quality is locked in to the imaging mode even if imaging is set to RAW. To fix the problem I disconnect the camera make sure the image quality on the camera is RAW and and restart BYE and reconnect the camera in M mode. I then confirm the switch to small JPG in focus and back to RAW for imaging is working. I've come to the conclusion that connecting a camera that is in A mode is bad and results in unintended consequences.

Auto modes are not supported in BYE.  You must start BYN in 'M' (or 'B') mode otherwise you will have some issues as you have seen.

The reason is that astrophotography can't be done in any of the auto modes because these are optimized for day time photography.  I believe the user manual does specify to put your camera in M or B mode.

Good observation and thank you for posting.

Regards,
