Autofocusing with focusmax ?

Hi,

 

I just bought a microtouch focuser and I read it could be used with focusmax in order to do autofocusing.

 

Does BackyardEOS works with focusmax? or is it planned?

Backyard EOS (BYE) has an API which allows external applications to control the camera. This is described in detail in the API manual in the which is available from the Downloads area of this web site. So, it should be easy for FocusMax to get BYE to take a picture to be used for focusing adjustments, with no changes to BYE.

 

You should contact the author of FocusMax to ask him why his product does not take advantage of this capability to enable FocusMax to use BYE for image capture.

 

I will also say that the Premium version of BYE and BYN support manual computer-controlled focusing of your focuser through ASCOM.

I use Backyard for a while with success. In fact I just changed my focus motor (from JMI to microtouch from star arizona) which now support focusmax for autofocusing.

 

I will ask them about the API use.
