Lens Focus Issue

1CM69

Question

Hi,

I am currently trialling the latest version of BYEOS with my 750d.

I have my 18-55mm Canon lens attached to my camera & have flicked the switch on the lens to MF.

Camera is set to M.

When I try the lens focus feature nothing happens i.e. there is no focus movement on the lens.

If I then flick the switch on the lens to AF, obviously the lens itself bursts into life attempting to focus automatically.

If I now try the lens focus feature in BYE, it works, I can move on and off focus using it but the lens itself is always automatically correcting it because of AF mode setup.

How do the lens focus feature in BYE supposed to function?

Is there an in camera setting that I should be applying?

Thanks

Kirk

Kirk,

First, in order for BYE to be able to drive the lens it must be set to AF. If the lens is set to MF then the only way to adjust focus is for you to manually rotate the focus ring.

For my T5i I set the AF method to Quick mode. This disables Continuous AF. You should read about these options in the camera's user manual.
